Gabriela and her second-youngest childe, Confessor Roland Fitzroy.

Guiding Hand of the de la Lanza family. In appearance, Gabriela is a pretty and slight girl of about seventeen, an appearance that has led more than one Kindred to underestimate this devoutly Sanctified elder. A member of House Fervidus, Gabriela exemplifies the passion and hunger of the House in the strength of her Faith and her devotion to the Lancea Sanctum - a devotion that even led to her destroying her own childe. Within the Lancea Sanctum she is known as a fervent Hardliner of the Monachal Creed, and as a Mendicant who has spent much of the past century wandering Europe carrying both the teachings of the Sanctified as well as messages and assistance for her Covenant. The breaks in her wanderings have been to take on students, which she does with some frequency, becoming known within the Covenant as a teacher of some note. A specialist in Lancea Sanctum theology herself, her students come away from her tutelage with a solid grounding in the Covenant's dogma, and as a result she is just as likely to have students referred to her as she is to offer to take on a young Kindred she has met.

While she is normally soft-spoken and slightly reserved, Gabriela is known to fits of passion, generally of anger. These pass as quickly as they come. Even in her anger, others can pick up on a sense of sadness about her.

Timeline

  • 1792: Born Gabriela Magdalena de Villanueva y de Díaz to an infanzón (untitled lower nobility) family in Zaragoza, Spain, on Feb 2nd. Her mother dies shortly after the birth. Her father does not remarry.
  • 1808: Betrothed to a childhood friend, Alejandro de Nuñez y de la Péna.
  • Her closest brother, Rafael, runs off to fight in the Peninsular War and is not heard from by Gabriela again.
  • 1808/1809: Loses her father, remaining brother, and fiancée in the two Zaragozan sieges.
  • 1809: Embraced at the end of the second Siege of Zaragoza.
  • 1864: Is released and promptly joins the Lancea Sanctum.
  • 1865: Travels to Singapore. Also changes her name to Gabriela Magdalena Zaragoza y de la Lanza.
  • 1868: Embraces Ezekial de la Lanza in Singapore. When he attempts to Embrace his sister Oriana the next night and botches it up, Gabriela ensures that his sister has been given the choice and then instructs Ezekial on how to complete the Embrace. She takes Oriana under her accounting until Ezekial is released.
  • 1877 - 1890: Studies with Victoria Isabella Montgomery Halliday, and does some travelling with Victoria and Ezekial.
  • 1890: Releases Ezekial and transfers Oriana to his accounting.
  • 1892: Returns to Europe and begins to travel as a Mendicant.
  • 1895 - 1903: Is stalked by a mortal who had become obsessed with her.

  • 1907 - 1917(?): Meets, baptises and mentors Annabelle Leona Quartermain in London, England.
  • 1927: Returns to Calais after being notified by Inquisitor Jebediah Creed that her childe is under investigation for heresy.
  • 1928: Destroys François. There are several rumours as to why, the most likely being heresy due to Jebediah Creed's investigation, but Gabriela neither confirms nor denies any of them.
  • 1929 (Aug.): Embraces Charles Beckett in Palestine.
  • 1929 (late): Embraces Roland Fitzroy in London, England.
  • 1929/30: Meets Alexandra Hamersley and her childe Ellis Highstrom in London.
  • Early-mid 1930s: Releases Charles and Roland.
  • 1936: Mentors Ellis Highstrom, and takes him with her on her next journeyings as a Mendicant. Innocent joins them as their Paladin.
  • Late 1930s/early 1940s: Meets Charles Dietrich, and educates him in the Testament and the Longinian faith.
  • 1939: Gabriela and Innocent become seperated from Ellis when Germany invades Poland. Each blames themselves for this.
  • 1941: Upon reaching the Black Sea, Gabriela decides to go to ground with the local Sanctified until the end of the war, and releases Innocent.
  • 1942 - 1952: Meets, baptises and mentors Gabi Falk in the Crimea. Both teacher and student also regularly travel into Eastern Europe during this time.
  • 1960s/early 1970s: Travels around the US, where she meets and travels with Jack Sands.
  • 1974 - 1979: Travels with and teaches Jude in the USA.
  • 1979 - 1984: Teaches/mentors new Sanctified Donald Miller in Cardiff, Wales.
  • 1980s (late): Meets Jaagup Rebane in Poland.
  • 1989: Meets Jaagup Rebane again, in Germany, and watches the Wall come down with a mixed group of Kindred including Rebane, Falk, Evelyn Chapel and Bader.
  • 1989 - 1991: Travels with Evelyn Chapel, giving the younger Daeva further instruction in the Monachal Creed and Theban Miracles.
  • 2006: Embraces Ivy Darling in Fife, Scotland. Releases her later that year in London.
  • Nov. 2008 - May. 2009: Educates Cassidy in the Testament, Catechism, and Sanctified theological discussions.
  • Jun. 2009 (early): Embraces Angela de la Lanza in Somalia.
  • Jun. 2009 (mid): Comes to Australia. With the former Damned residents of Melbourne dead or gone, Gabriela is accepted by the newly arrived Sanctified as the superior predator amongst them, and is anointed as Bishop of Melbourne by Bishop Bader. In return for a key position for the Covenant within the city, Gabriela and the LS back the praxis bid of Eli Stanthorpe.
  • Jul. 2009: When a court gathering hosted by the de la Lanzas is troubled by strange spirits who attack from the shadows, Gabriela and her childe Fitzroy perform an exorcism to force the creatures out. The exorcism makes the creatures appear, and one is presumably destroyed by the court. The other takes on the appearance of a woman and claims to be the previous Hierophant of Melbourne. When some of the local Acolytes react positively to it and then refuse to allow Gabriela to perform another exorcism on the young Acolyte the creature apparently jumped into, blows are exchanged and Gabriela publicly accuses them of being in collaboration with the 'demon' and assisting it's escape.
  • Oct. 2009: Is present in Canberra when Damned from across the country gather. Her atypically affectionate behaviour towards her sire on the first evening creates a puzzle for those who know her, until it is revealed on the second evening that she was under the effects of Entrancement when she lays a complaint about the matter with the Master of Elysium. She then records the boon that he is to pay as compensation with the Harpy's of three seperate cities. She spends much of her time working with the LS, in close conversations with her great-aunt Baroness Khalia, or involved in clashes of will with her sire and grand-sire - the two most public being when Nikolai forces her to kneel to them, and when Khalia (at Gabriela's request) forces William to kneel to his childe and apologise.
  • Dec. 2009: After the death of Prince Eli Stanthorpe, attempts to help negotiate a bloodless settlement between two of the contenders for the Melbourne praxis. Refuses to back the praxis bid of her childe, Ivy Darling, and publicly speaks out against Ivy's bid. The stance of the Lancea Sanctum on this matter leads to bloodshed as Ivy's supporters attempt to fulfil Ivy's bid through violence. There are no deaths in the end, but the splinters. Gabriela spends the next two months in intense negotiations with various members of the Invictus and the Carthian Movement.
  • Feb. 2010: With Sir Cameron Alexander Moran co-hosts the court gathering at which Moran takes praxis of Melbourne. Is appointed Seneschal of Melbourne.
